President

The face. Since co-founding the company, David has lead the vision and products of Choose Local Media. He instills in the sales team, that it’s all about getting results for our clients. David prefers to be meeting face-to-face with clients, than sitting back in our office. David’s background as a fashion photographer provides a creative energy in the design of all of our products. After hours, you’ll often see David at major local events. For fun, David rides off-road motorbikes.

The boss. The CEO. Nez is a local Portland entrepreneur, he is also the founder of Smart Wireless, and the Hallett Realty Group.

The Nerd. With over 25 years helping companies with technology, Christopher is the tech genius behind CLM and the mobile app. When not creating kick ass apps he spends his time with the awesome family and building airplanes.

The voice. When you call the office, Robin is the one who answers your calls. She keeps the office running smoothly, working in both financial and day-to-day operations. We appreciate Robin’s attention to detail, specially during the proofing of our maps and the magazine. A native Oregonian she spends her free time with her family either on Mount Hood, or at the coast.

The shooter. Tim’s eye for composition as a fine artist directs his work as our lead photographer. Tim’s photography can be seen in the display ads of both Choose Local Maps and Portland Interview Magazine. Tim has been known to shoot a number of editorial photos for Portland Interview Magazine, including a few covers. Not only does Tim shoot photos, as an Account Executive he works closely with clients and our design team in the creation of ads. You may have seen Tim’s artwork and art photography on display at anyone of a number of local art galleries.

The artist. Gary is our awesome graphic guru. He works with clients to design and build their ads as well as editorial design for Portland Interview Magazine. Take close attention to the buildings and icons on our maps, they were drawn by Gary. Not only does he create our beautiful maps, he oversees the production of them. When driving the streets of Portland be careful, Gary is a year-round bike commuter.

The Marketer. Al comes to CLM from his three years as Executive Director of the Pearl District Business Association. A native Oregonian, Al has spent most of his career creating marketing solutions for clients of all sizes. His favorite? The local small business. “It’s a great feeling to see the positive result of helping business owners with their marketing” Evenings and weekends you’ll find Al & his wife hanging out with friends at a new restaurant or getting away to the North Coast.

DENNY SHLEIFER

Denny has over 40 years experience in public relations, crisis communications and marketing communications. Prior to his many years in public relations, Denny served in a variety of news broadcasting operations across the country including KPTV and KOIN in Portland, OR., KGO TV in San Francisco, KMGH in Denver and WXYZ in Detroit. Denny is helping sell the Nob Hill District Map at Choose Local Media.

The Assistant and Social Media Coordinator. Kendall recently graduated from Portland State University with her Bachelors in Psychology. She was in sales with the global clothing brand H&M for four years, and decided to join our team in September of 2017. She has a passion for understanding what people are drawn to in our personal relationships and over social media. In her spare time she can be found trying new restaurants around Portland and discovering new places to hike.

The wordsmith. With over 25 years of experience in print and broadcast journalism management, Justin is the go-to guy to contact with ideas for upcoming issues. It’s his job to assign articles to writers, write a few pieces himself, edit all content, and help keep the diverse creative minds at the magazine all pointed in the same direction. He also handles a select few ad accounts for preferred clients. An occasional photo contributor as well, Justin spends his free time exploring and photographing the outdoors with his dog, restoring vintage homes, and listening to his extensive vinyl record collection.

JENNIFER WARD

Everyone knows her as Jen. A self-described nerd in the science and industry of cannabis, Jen began working with Oregon cannabis in 2010 while volunteering at one of the first Portland dispensaries. As a medical cannabis advocate and patient, Jen came on board in the summer of 2015 to develop, create and help publish the inaugural Portland Cannabis Map and has continued developing and improving the map and distribution ever since. Jen also holds dual degrees in audio engineering & sound design. A native Oregonian, and lover of all things outdoors and active, Jen is also a nationally certified ACE Personal Trainer. HISTORY

Choose Local Media, Inc. was started in 2001 by David Bentley and Michael Sant with the creation of the Alberta Street Walking Map in Portland Oregon. In 2003 the Beaumont Village and Nob Hill maps were printed. In 2005, they launched ChooseLocal.com. Over the years Choose Local Media has produced many Portland business district maps, and city maps for Seattle, Astoria, Salem, and Eugene. In 2013, the Explore Local app was launched in Portland, and now its in many west coast markets.
