Choose Local Media is a publishing and marketing company located in Portland, Oregon. We publish and distribute print and digital media that promotes local businesses, and communities in which they are located.




The face. Since co-founding the company, David has lead the vision and products of Choose Local Media. He instills in the sales team, that it’s all about getting results for our clients. David prefers to be meeting face-to-face with clients, than sitting back in our office. David’s background as a fashion photographer provides a creative energy in the design of all of our products. After hours, you’ll often see David and his wife at major local events. For fun, David rides off-road motorbikes.



The boss. Welcome our new CEO! Nez is a local Portland entrepreneur, he is also the founder of Smart Wireless, and the Hallett Realty Group.

Christopher Jones


The Nerd. With over 25 years helping companies with technology, Christopher is the tech genius behind CLM and the mobile app. When not creating kick ass apps he spends his time with the awesome family and building airplanes.


Accounts Manager

The voice. When you call the office, Robin is the one who answers your calls. She keeps the office running smoothly, working in both financial and day-to-day operations. We appreciate Robin’s attention to detail, specially during the proofing of our maps and the magazine. A native Oregonian she spends her free time with her family either on Mount Hood, or at the coast.


Lead Photographer

The shooter. Tim’s eye for composition as a fine artist directs his work as our lead photographer. Tim’s photography can be seen in the display ads of both Choose Local Maps and AboutFace Magazine. Tim has been known to shoot a number of editorial photos for About Face Magazine, including a few covers. Not only does Tim shoot photos, as an Account Executive he works closely with clients and our design team in the creation of ads. You may have seen Tim’s artwork and art photography on display at anyone of a number of local art galleries. 


Director of Content

The wordsmith. When the team needs something written, DC is the go-to guy. He facilitates our marketing and business strategies, as well as product development. His second role as the Editor of AboutFace Magazine, he researches the editorial, plans and budgets each issue, and assigns the writers. DC manages every aspect of the production of the print and digital issues of AboutFace Magazine. A proud alumnus of the University of Oregon. DC spends most weekends in wine country. An avid sailor, he’s currently looking for a new sailboat.


Lead Designer

The artist. Gary is our awesome graphic guru. He works with clients to design and build their ads as well as editorial design for About Face Magazine. Take close attention to the buildings and icons on our maps, they were drawn by Gary. Not only does he create our beautiful maps, he oversees the production of them. When driving the streets of Portland be careful, Gary is a year-round bike commuter.


VP Integrated Marketing

The Marketer. Al comes to CLM from his three years as Executive Director of the Pearl District Business Association. A native Oregonian, Al has spent most of his career creating marketing solutions for clients of all sizes. His favorite? The local small business. “It’s a great feeling to see the positive result of helping business owners with their marketing” Evenings and weekends you’ll find Al & his wife hanging out with friends at a new restaurant or getting away to the North Coast.


Choose Local Media, Inc. was started in 2001 by David Bentley and Michael Sant with the creation of the Alberta Street Walking Map in Portland Oregon. In 2003 the Beaumont Village and Nob Hill maps were printed. In 2005, they launched ChooseLocal.com. Over the years Choose Local Media has produced many Portland business district maps, and city maps for Seattle, Astoria, Salem, and Eugene. In 2013, the Explore Local app was launched in Portland, and now its in many west coast markets.
